During a routine inspection
We encouraged the people living at Cavendish House to participate in the visit using their preferred methods of communication and we met the three people who received support from the service.
We had the opportunity to observe the support that was being given to people. We saw examples of good communication and patience by staff. Staff interacted with the people they supported in a positive manner. Staff were friendly and respectful to the people they were supporting.
We also had a volunteer visiting the home (called an expert by experience) who arranged to meet and talk to people living at the home.
One person told us they were happy living in their home. One person told us what they liked to do each day and said:
'I can make choices, I go out with staff'; " One staff helps me, she is my key worker, I like her'; ' I can go to the pub and I had Christmas dinner with one of the staff. I go to the club and disco'; 'I get choices to eat what I like, I get healthy food, I like fish and chips with mushy peas'.
