All Inspections

During a routine inspection

There were four people living at 10 Harison Road at the time of our visit. The people we observed and spent time with indicated they were happy.

During our inspection we spoke with four members of staff. These were the registered manager, the deputy manager and two support workers. We also looked at review records as well as meeting records to help us understand the views of the people who use the service.

Staff we spoke with enjoyed working at the home, one person told us 'I love working here and we are a brilliant team'. Another member of staff told us 'we are a well-established team and work well together, I get great job satisfaction'. The staff we spoke with felt supported by their manager and received regular supervisions and guidance.

We read feedback from relative comment cards which included 'thank you for all your kindness at the home' and 'your staff are all dedicated and we appreciate all that you do'.

We looked at care and support plans, staff records and observed levels of staff. We saw the service had enough experienced and skilled staff to meet the people's needs.

People chose how to occupy themselves in the service. We observed that people were spending time in the communal areas reading magazines and completing jigsaws. We observed staff spending the majority of their time with people who used the service. They frequently checked on them to ensure they were alright when spending time on their own.

During our visit we saw that people were being treated with dignity and respect and people's independence was encouraged. People were spoken to in a respectful way. People we spoke to told us that the staff were very understanding, they always had time to listen, were approachable and helpful, and that their privacy was respected whilst they were supported to maintain their independence. One person told us 'We go out for lunch every Friday - I love that. I get to choose what I want to eat and where we go.'

We observed that staff asked people about how and when they wanted their care and support. This indicated that people were involved in planning their care on a daily basis.

A family member told us "it is wonderful here - they go beyond the call of duty and nothing is too much for them. Everything here is excellent - they really are wonderful."
