During a routine inspection

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. Bupa Centre provided people with detailed health assessments and personalised advice on how to improve their health and fitness.The centre also provided dental services, physiotherapy and consultations with a Bupa doctor in relation to musculoskeletal conditions.

We spoke with one person using the service who was available to speak to us on the day of the inspection. They told us, 'the service was very good overall. I was quite impressed. The health assessor took me through all the results, what they each meant and what I could do to improve my health.'

Health and safety procedures were in place to ensure people who used the service, staff and visitors were protected against the risks of unsafe or unsuitable premises. The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive. People who use the service and staff were asked for their views about their care and treatment and their views were acted on. In the latest satisfaction survey, 92% of people were satisfied overall with the service.

There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints were responded to appropriately. People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

During a routine inspection

Staff at Bupa Centre Gough Square were friendly and welcoming to patients and treated them with dignity and respect. Patients were clear about the services and treatments available at the centre. Patients said the clinicians were highly skilled and professional in their view and they were extremely satisfied with the care and treatment they received. The centre was clean and well maintained and procedures were followed to minimise the risk of infection. Medicines were safely stored and managed. Staff were supported and received training to update their skills and knowledge, to maintain their professional registrations and for their continuous professional development.
