Our current view of the service

Denville Hall is a care home providing personal and nursing care for up to 40 older people. The service is a specialist care home for actors and members of the wider theatrical industry. At the time of our assessment, 31 people were using the service.

The assessment included an unannounced visit to the service on 16 September 2025.

The last rating for this service was good (published 27 June 2019). This assessment was carried out due to the length of time since the last inspection. The rating has remained good.

People were safely cared for. People received their medicines in a safe way and as prescribed. Staff assessed and planned for risks to help keep people safe. The environment was clean and well maintained. Staff investigated and learnt from things that went wrong.

There were enough suitable staff to meet people’s needs. They undertook a range of training. They worked alongside other professionals to keep people safe. Staff felt well supported.

People’s needs were assessed. They received personalised care which met their needs. Staff monitored their health and wellbeing. People were given a choice of nutritious food and drink.

People were able to make choices about their care. They were given the information they needed to make decisions. People took part in a wide range of events and activities.

There were effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service. People using the service and staff felt the service was well-managed. The registered manager provided staff with information to follow best practice. There was a positive and inclusive culture at the service.

People's experience of the service

People using the service had a good experience. They enjoyed living there. They liked the staff. People were well cared for, and their needs were met. People told us they would recommend the service to others. Their comments included, “It is first class here”, “Staff are extremely good” and “The home is utterly brilliant.”

There was a welcoming atmosphere at the service. People had good relationships with each other and staff. There was mutual respect, kindness and understanding. People shared experiences from their professional lives and bonded with each other. The home was well resourced, and people had access to the things they needed to be happy and comfortable.
