During an inspection looking at part of the service

During our visit on 15 March 2012 we observed people both in the main lounge and in their own bedrooms. We spoke to people in passing and were greeted with plenty of conversations and smiles. Questions asked were answered positively with people telling us they were happy and content.

We were told the food was enjoyed and that they help choose the menus.

We could see people were happy to eat their meals where they preferred. Some stayed in the lounge, some moved to the dining room and some preferred to eat in their bedrooms.

Although we did not talk to people who use the service about the staffing team we did observe good interactions between staff and people who live in the home. No one appeared rushed, we did not hear bells summoning help and everyone we observed was smiling and interacting with each other.

During an inspection in response to concerns

During our visit to the Home we spoke to three people who live at the Home. They told us that they like living there and that the staff are kind and helpful. They said that staff are very busy but that they do not have any concerns about the staff.

People told us that they like their meals and that they have a choice about what they eat. They said that the cook knows what they like and do not like and always gives them an alternative if they do not fancy what is on the menu.
