During an inspection looking at part of the service

People told us that they felt safe in the home. They said they could discuss any concerns they had with the staff. Observations during the visit showed there was a relaxed atmosphere in the home and people chatted freely and openly with each other, the staff and management.

The manager and staff understood how and where to report any suspicions or concerns about the safety and wellbeing of people using the service.

There had been a social services led safeguarding adults' investigation at the home.

This meant the safeguarding team had concerns about the home. They had offered support and advice from a range of different agencies to make sure the standards of care improved. This was to make sure the people living at the home were safe and their needs were being met. Professionals who had visited the home told us that there had been improvements to the care people had received.

People said that they were happy with their rooms and had everything that they needed. We saw that people's rooms were individualised and contained photographs and personal belongings.

Overall the home was clean and tidy and people said this was always the case. Some people told us that their rooms had been refurbished and they had new carpets and curtains.

Overall the home was clean and tidy and people said this was always the case.

Parts of the homes environment had improved but this needed to continue. There were no robust plans in place to inform people how this was going to be achieved and how long it would take.

People we spoke to told us that the staff were very good and caring. We found that at times there were not always enough staff on duty to meet the needs of the people in a timely manner.

Not all staff had received the training they required. This means they may not have had all the skills and knowledge they needed to look after people in a way that suited them best.

There had been a lot of management changes at the home over the past two years and this had led to inconsistencies in the way the home had been managed. Improvements that had been made in the past had not been sustained.
