Our current view of the service

Requires improvement

Updated 12 March 2026

Date of the assessment was 13 April to 20 April 2026. Best West Bridgford Home Care Ltd is a homecare service providing care and support to adults of all ages, people who are living with dementia, physical disabilities or sensory impairments living in their own home. Not everyone using the service was receiving a regulated activity. At the time of our assessment 9 people were supported by the service with a regulated activity. Regulated activity is defined as help with care related to personal care. The provider had registered with us on 1 July 2022, and this was their first assessment. This was an offsite assessment; this meant we requested all records to be sent to us electronically and reviewed them offsite.

During this assessment we found care plans did not always contain clear, detailed guidance to support staff to manage people’s health conditions or deliver care in line with best practice. Incidents and accidents were not consistently recorded or shared with the management team and the Mental Capacity Act (2005) was not always followed, as capacity assessments were not routinely completed where required.

Governance systems were ineffective and did not provide sufficient oversight of the service. However, medicines were managed safely. Staff were recruited safely and there were enough staff to ensure people received their scheduled care calls, with visits lasting the allocated time. People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect, and despite gaps in written guidance, staff and the registered manager demonstrated a good understanding of people and their individual needs.

During this assessment we identified breaches in relation to safe care and treatment. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.

People's experience of the service

Updated 12 March 2026

People and relatives told us they felt safe. One relative told us, “I absolutely feel that he was safe with all the carers. For example, we were able to access their portal and the notes that they'd written each day. These notes were detailed notes for example about what he'd eaten.”

We were told staff were kind and caring. A relative told us. “Staff are lovely people. For example, [staff] is so kind and she was a cook and prepares mum some lovely food.” People had their food prepared that they liked, one relative told us, “The carers prepare mum some food and they will even make homemade soup for her knowing that she enjoys soup and they leave her with a drink.”

Whilst feedback was positive, our assessment found best practice was not always followed and staff did not always have clear written guidance of people’s health and wellbeing.
