All Inspections

2 August 2013

During a routine inspection

On the day of our inspection the agency was supporting 37 people who lived in their own flats at Alder Court. We spoke with 5 people who received support from the agency. People told us they were happy with the support they received from the agency. Comments we received from people included “It’s great here, the staff always arrive when they should and you can come and go as you please”.

Care records were person centred and included information important to people, such as how they liked to be supported. People told us that care staff listened to them and they felt involved in their care and support.

Care plans were reviewed monthly and daily records we viewed confirmed that staff provided people with care and support as described in their care plans.

The agency had systems in place which ensured that medications were administered and stored safely in people’s homes. We saw from records that staff encouraged people to be as independent as possible in this area.

We found that the staff were supported effectively by the management of the service. Staff told us they received regular supervision meetings and training appropriate to their role.

We saw that staff were provided with specific training to meet the individual needs of people living at the service. For example staff had received training in supporting people with a Learning disability.

We found there were effective systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided.

13 November 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with 16 of the 38 people who use the service. We spoke to the registered manager, a senior care worker, and three care workers.

People told us what they thought about the service they received from the staff who visited them in their private accommodation in Alder Court. We were told “the staff are very good, we have a laugh with them”. “The staff are very helpful”. “The staff are very, very good ”. “They are great”.

People had their own care plan showing how to give them the support they required. The staff were knowledgeable about people’s care needs and how to meet them.

People were supported by staff who understood what actions to take to safeguard them from abuse.

People benefited because there were a sufficient number of staff to effectively meet their care needs.

People were well supported to make complaints about the agency. When complaints were made these were properly investigated.
