All Inspections

During a routine inspection

The agency provided personal care and domestic services to approximately 32 people who required short term support with dementia during the day and an out of hours service for people living in the community. This inspection concentrated on the work of the dementia support team. The dementia support team had been in operation for 12 months.

During our inspection we spoke with the registered manager, team leader, senior re-ablement worker and seven re-ablement workers. We spoke with five relatives of people who used the service on the telephone. We were unable to speak to people using the service as they were living with dementia.

Relatives who spoke with us were satisfied with the service being provided. Individual comments made to us included: "the staff are a real help, they are always on time and involve my relative in what they are doing'

Records we looked at showed the agency had effective systems in place to monitor the care provided to people.

We found that systems were in place to ensure medications were administered safely.

We found that there were enough staff employed by the agency to deliver care to an appropriate standard. However, currently the service only have 1 senior re-ablement worker and we were told that they should have 3. We saw that there were arrangements in place to fill these vacancies.

The service had systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided.
