We observed that people were enjoying the activities being provided and responded to 'their turn' to take part. While music was playing we saw people tapping their feet to it. We observed one person who was helped to choose their meal at lunch time and they seemed to enjoy their meal. Another person was not helped to make a choice and refused to eat their lunch. One person liked to walk up and down the corridor between the sitting room and the activity room, they had a chair that was clearly considered to be theirs in each room and others did not use these chairs. They were seen to smile when spoken to and laughed with the activity co-ordinator.

The local council told us that they had concerns about the use of medication on the dementia care unit of the home. They also told us that had concerned that staff had not received training in caring for people with dementia.
