During a routine inspection

People who used the service told us they were satisfied with the service they received. We found that staff took time to explain where possible the options available and supported people to make choices. People told us that they were treated with respect and involved in their care and treatment. People told us their wishes were respected by staff.

We found the home to be clean, tidy and free from unpleasant odours. There was a system in place for infection control to protect people from the risk of infection.

Staff recruitment records showed that new staff had been thoroughly checked to make sure they were suitable to work with vulnerable people. Systems were in place to monitor the service that people received to ensure that the service was satisfactory and safe. People told us they did not have any complaints but would not hesitate to speak to the manager or staff if they had any concerns.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We made an unannounced visit to the service to check on a compliance action we made at our last inspection. This involved the need to address shortfalls in the maintenance of the accommodation. We found that the compliance action had been met.

We saw that staff spoke to people with kindness and patience. People said that they were satisfied with the health and social care they received. They considered staff to be kind and helpful and they felt safe. One person said, 'I've found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is okay. I like the meals well enough and in general I think I made the right decision to come here."

People who use the service said that staff treated them with respect and supported them to raise any concerns they had. They said that they received the health and personal care they needed and that they were comfortable in their home.

All of the six patients with whom we spoke gave us positive feedback about the service. One of them said, 'Overall, I'm quite okay about this place. The staff are kind to us and we get helped with what we need. The food is okay and we have our own bedrooms if we want to be on our own. It's not like your own home, but it's okay for me'.
