During a routine inspection

We were able to gain some feedback about the service from people who used it and this was positive. We also made observations about how people were being supported throughout the day, and we have used this and our discussions with staff, and what we found when we checked records, to make our judgements.

We found that people were encouraged to make choices and decisions and when they were not able to do so then decisions were made in their best interests.

We found that people received the care and support they required to meet their needs. People were well supported with their personal and health care needs. People's needs were reflected in their support plan and staff presented as having a good understanding of people's needs.

Medication was managed safely and people were supported to take their medication as prescribed.

New staff did not start work without pre-employment checks having been carried out. This aimed to ensure people were supported by staff who had the appropriate skills and qualities they needed to carry out their roles.

People told us they would be happy to approach the manager if they had any concerns or complaints about the service and they felt confident that the manager would address any concerns.

During a routine inspection

This home cares for people with a learning disability. We met each of the people who were living at the home however conversation was limited due to their learning disability. We therefore spent much of the time making observations of how people were being cared for. This helped us to observe the daily routines and gain an insight into how people's care and support was being managed. We observed staff assisting people who required care and support in a relaxed and unhurried manner. Staff treated people with respect and dignity.

During a routine inspection

We met each of the people who were living at the home, but on this occasion we were not able to attain their views about the service. However, during our visit we spent time observing the support they received from staff and we have taken this information into account in writing this report.
