During a routine inspection

People said that they could express their views about the provision of the service with staff. They told us that they would report concerns about their care and support, if they had any, to the manager. They thought that staff were very approachable. One relative said that 'staff are genuine and try their best for people'. They added that staff have a smile on their faces when caring and supporting people.

People confirmed that they could make choices about how they spend their day and what they do during the course of the day. We observed people using different areas of the home independently and according to their wishes. They said that they could get up or go to bed at the time they wanted to.

One person told us that they went out in the local community and attended church. The manager confirmed that people could go out independently if there had been an appropriate risk assessment with the input from other health and social care professionals to ensure their safety and that of the public.

Relatives said that they were kept informed when there were changes in people's conditions. The manager told us that people or their relatives were always involved in the review of the care of people by the commissioning authority.

People were pleased with the care and support they received in the home but a few thought that the provision of recreational and social activities could be improved.
