Date of assessment: 12 March 2025 to 27 March 2025.
Caretech Community Services Limited- 82 Chaucer Road is a care home supporting autistic people and people living with a learning disability.
We assessed the service against 'Right support, right care, right culture' guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
We identified 3 breaches of the Health and Social Care Act (2014) in relation to safe care and treatment, people receiving person-centred care and good governance.
The provider did not always make sure the environment was safe. The service was not being kept consistently clean free from infection and prevention control (IPC) concerns. People’s care plans and risk assessments were not always personalised and in some cases were not updated to reflect people’s current support needs. It was not always clear how people were being supported to discuss and achieve their desired goals and outcomes. Governance measures and audits were not effective in identifying issues at the service or where improvements could be made.
However, staff were kind and caring and knew people well as individuals. People were happy and relaxed living at the service and they and their family members gave us positive feedback. The registered manager was working hard with the staff team to help make sure people were well supported.
In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/ or appeals have been concluded.
