During a routine inspection

We talked with a number of staff in detail about their roles and interactions with people who used the service. We found that care was provided according to detailed care plans and risk assessments of the people who used the service.

We observed people being cared for by staff during our inspection. They were able to communicate their views verbally and through gestures. People were relaxed and comfortable with staff and people around them.

We took an extract from a returned satisfaction feedback form received from a relative of a person that used the service in which they wrote the following comments, "I am always welcome no matter what time I visit, 'Good job, well done."

The service was well supported by the provider through one to one supervision and training for staff. We viewed records of clear policies and procedures and monitoring of the quality of the service.

During a routine inspection

Some of the people living at York House and Aldersmore were not able to communicate with us verbally and some chose not to talk with us. They shared their views through gestures, facial expressions and body language.

Some people spoke with us generally about life in the home and what they enjoyed doing. They told us about the things they did during the day. One person said that college was, "interesting" and someone else said, "I am happy."

We saw people were relaxed and comfortable with staff and other people using the service. One person told us, "I like all the staff here."
