During a routine inspection

We visited the office and spoke with the manager, deputy manager and five staff. We visited two people in their homes and spoke with them and their relatives. We spoke with a further seven relatives over the telephone.

We found Rowan Care Services t/a Prestige Nursing delivered a service which was compliant with the regulations.

We found people's consent was obtained before any care or support was given. One person said: 'They always check how I like things done and make sure it's what I want before doing it'.

People we spoke with were highly satisfied with the care and support provided. Staff were described as 'brilliant', 'excellent' and 'fabulous'. One person said: 'The company show great empathy, not just to me but also to my (relative)'. Another person said: 'Nothing is too much trouble. They put themselves out to get things right for us'. Another person said: 'They go above and beyond the call of duty'.

We found there were safe systems in place to ensure people received their medicines. One relative said: 'They know exactly what they're doing with the medicines'.

We saw effective systems for monitoring the quality of the service provided and for managing complaints.

During a routine inspection

People we contacted told us they a very happy with the service provided. One person told us that the carers are 'very good' and 'listen to what they say'. They also said the carers are always 'very polite and courteous'. People said they feel the service is meeting their care and support needs.

People told us that they could not ask for a better service.

One person told us that the 'girls are wonderful' and that they are always pleasant and accommodating and they have never had a reason to complain.

People we spoke to told us that they are very happy with the carers who come to their house. One person said that they did once have a problem with one carer, however, they spoke to the service providers and this was sorted out right away. They went on to say that the carers are very friendly and treat them with dignity and respect their wishes at all times

People we contacted told us they are very happy with the service. One person said that the carers and in particular the Learning Disability Nurses that come to their home are 'brilliant'. They went on to say that they are very good and are always on time and well presented. They went on to say that they are hoping to increase the amount of support and care they receive as the nurses are so good.

One person we spoke to said that the carers are so good and they have confidence in the care and support they will provide. They went on to say that they have gained so much of their own life back, knowing that their mum is receiving the care and support they need. They also told us that they would like to thank Prestige for given them piece of mind knowing that their mum is well cared for and receiving good quality care.

During a routine inspection

People said they are more than satisfied with the care and support provided. One person said the workers are very good and listen to what they say. Another said that nothing is to much trouble and the carers are always polite and courteous. One person said the service has 'bent over backwards' to make sure they deliver the services they have promised. Another says the service they receive is excellent. People say they are involved with their assessments, sign their care plans and have a say in how they are to be cared for and supported.

One person said the carers are wonderful and they are always pleasant and polite. People said they feel safe and the carers always treat then with dignity and respect their wishes. One person said they did not get on with one of the carers visiting them, however, after one telephone call this carer was replaced.

One person said the carers are excellent and very caring. Another said the carers appear to be very confident and experienced. People said they are more than happy with the care and support provided.

One person said that due to sickness their carer did not turn up, however, after calling the Care Coordinator they service sent someone else. Another said that the service has done their best to make sure they get the right kind of people to care for them. They went on to say that the carers are very confident and competent. Another said the carers are always very polite and courteous. People say they are very happy and pleased with the services provided.

One person said they like the people coming to care for them and they feel supported as they listen to what they say and nothing is to much trouble. One relative said although they are new to the service, so far, they have done everything they promised to do and the care and support provided is very good.

People said they are asked regularly if they are happy with the carers and the services they provide. One person says if they are not happy they can phone the Care Coordinator and it is sorted right away.
