During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people by telephone, one person during our visit and one person wrote to us. People told us that they were happy and spoke positively about the treatment, care and support they received at the clinic. Everyone we spoke with felt they were involved in making decisions about their treatment. We received comments such as, 'I feel very safe in their hands. They are always careful to explain everything. I am very impressed with this service." Another person said 'All the staff at the clinic are friendly and welcoming" another said "Good value for money, they are open and honest."

People we spoke with confirmed that their consent had been obtained prior to any treatments being carried out at the clinic. One person told us 'Good information is provided beforehand. I then gave my consent before I had any treatment. I have had 100% positive experience at the clinic. I would not hesitate to recommend them."

People told us they were all quite happy with the overall service they received at the clinic. Everyone we spoke with told us they would speak with the registered manager if they had a complaint.

We spoke with a member of staff during our visit. They told us that they were well supported and were provided with the information and training they needed to do their job. One member of staff said 'We (staff) get plenty of training.' They discussed with us the variety of training they had completed and records we saw during our visit confirmed this.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

At our previous inspection in October 2011 we found the service was not making the appropriate arrangements for the recording, safe keeping and monitoring of medicines used for the purpose of the regulated activity.

During our inspection we talked to the registered manager, and the nurse who administers the medication and looked at the records. We found the registered manager has introduced new systems to ensure the safe administration, monitoring and disposal of medication.

During a routine inspection

Deep Blue Skin Technology is registered with the Care Quality Commission for the regulated activity treatment of disease, disorder or injury. This is because listed professionals (nurses) are using non-surgical lasers for therapeutic use and prescribing and administering vaccinations' for travel and the prevention of cervical cancer.

We were unable to talk to people using the service during our visit. However the registered manager provided us with comments from the 2010 survey they carried out, where they sought people's views about the service provided. 65 people responded to the survey, and all stated the staff were courteous and polite and 64 stated their treatments were clearly explained.
