Updated 8 July 2025
Date of assessment: 14 to 21 July 2025. Wilton House is a residential care home, providing support to adults who live with a learning disability, physical disability, mental health conditions or autism. At the time of our inspection 22 people were using the service. People were supported across 5 homes. An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Our inspection was prompted due to several safeguarding concerns we received from the local authority. We visited the service on the 14 and 16 July 2025, we also reviewed records off site. Whilst overarching quality and safety systems were in place, these had not been effective in identifying concerns. There was a lack of robust records in place, and a lack of recording and monitoring of accidents and incidents. We found several concerns which the provider had failed to notify CQC and the local authority about. There were concerns relating to the environment and managing infection, prevention and control (IPC) appropriately. We identified breaches in relation to managing medicines, governance, premises and equipment, infection prevention and control (IPC), dignity and respect and managing risks. Staff were recruited safely, and staff told us they felt supported in their roles and the team worked well together.
The service is now rated inadequate in the safe domain and requires improvement overall.
