Lightmoor View is a residential care home providing personal and nursing care to 69 people aged 65 and over at the time of the inspection. The service can support up to 75 people across six units in one adapted building. The service specialises in providing care to people living with dementia.

We found the following examples of good practice.

• Visiting policies and procedures were in place. Visitors were required to complete Covid-19 screening questionnaires and risk assessments prior to entering. Thermal imaging technology was used to check visitors’ temperatures and to ensure they were wearing a mask.

• People were supported by staff who wore Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in line with current guidance and were trained regarding infection prevention and control.

• People’s positive social and emotional wellbeing was promoted. People were supported to engage in activities that were compliant with social distancing guidelines.

• Clear risk assessments relating to Covid-19 were in place. Where risks relating to Covid-19 had been identified, measures had been put in place to mitigate risk to people.

• Staff wellbeing was promoted. Staff risk assessments were completed and measures were put in place to keep staff who were disproportionately at risk of Covid-19 safe. Covid-19 debriefs took place to discuss how staff were feeling and what support they needed during the pandemic.
