During an inspection looking at part of the service

We spoke to three people during the site visit. One person commented that visitors were made welcome. People had lots of personal items in their rooms such as collectable figures and classical music CDs

The people we spoke to commented on staff, "I feel very safe when being moved, staff know what they are doing", "All staff are good, I manage myself when I can, but if I need help, I ring the buzzer and someone will come straight away".

During a routine inspection

The people we spoke to were positive about living at Elwick Grange and felt involved in their care. There was evidence in the care documentation that individuals had been involved in decisions about their care and treatment. One person said, 'I feel well looked after, no complaints at all'. Another said, 'If I need help they come straight away when I ring the buzzer' and 'It is quite alright here, feel safe and secure, there are people around all the time and you just have to call them'.

During an inspection in response to concerns

Service users were asked how they feel about living in the home and if they were happy with the care they received from the staff. All of them were complimentary and made positive comments about the service and staff. These comments include 'clean, nice food', 'all of the staff are good, very kind' Relatives of one service user did express some concern regarding the number of care staff available to provide care and said "you cant find a carer when you need one its not they are not doing anything they are just so busy"
