We found that the home had up to date care plans in place and were monitoring peoples changing needs. There were up to date records for the management of pressure care which were being regularly audited.

We found that whilst people were provided with sufficient choice over their meals improvements were required to the support people received at mealtimes.

The home provided a safe environment by ensuring that all the equipment in use was being correctly serviced and tested.

The home was fully staffed but was recruiting additional nurses to cover sickness and annual leave.

During a routine inspection

People who live in the home told us the staff were caring and professional and that personal care was completed to a good standard. We were told that people felt safe and that their concerns were listened to. People told us the staff were often busy and sometimes they had to wait for their personal care needs to be attended to.

Professionals involved with the home said the staff communicated well and were enthusiastic about advice and guidance that was provided.

A good variety of activities were organised as well as occasional trips out. People could go out in small or large groups depending on their preference.

Staff told us that at times it was difficult to fully meet the needs of people in a timely fashion and the home was often very busy. Some people said it was difficult to get paperwork completed and that the senior staff or nurse on duty had too many roles to fulfil whilst running a shift.
