During a routine inspection

We inspected Care Promise on a planned announced inspection. We had informed the service prior to our inspection to ensure that someone would be available to facilitate the inspection. We were supported throughout the inspection by the registered manager. We spoke with people who used the service, their relatives and staff.

We found that people who used the service had consented to their care, treatment and support.

People who used the service and their relatives told us and we saw that people's care and welfare needs were being met. One person told us; 'They are grand, I can't fault the carers at all'.

We saw records to confirm medicines were managed safely and effectively.

We found that the service followed the correct recruitment procedures when employing new staff.

The service had systems in place to monitor the quality of the service provided by Complete Care.

We saw that the service had a complaints procedure and people who used the service knew how to use it.

During a routine inspection

We visited Care Promises Ltd on a planned unannounced inspection, which meant the service did not know we were coming.

People who used the service told us, "I am quite happy with Care Promises".

A relative of a person who used the service told us, "I don't have any problems with the care my relative receives".

Staff told us that they felt supported and enjoyed working for Care Promises.

We found that staff were helpful and friendly during the inspection process and demonstrated a knowledge and understanding of the regulations.

During a routine inspection

We reviewed all the information we hold about this provider, carried out a visit to the office and to people who use the service on 8 and 9 March 2011, talked to staff, checked the provider's records, and looked at records of people. People told us that they were very satisfied with the support they received from Care Promise. They were included in planning their care and deciding the way they wanted it providing. They chose when they wanted their care and said that they had regular carers. Care workers arrived when they should and had enough time to provide the care they needed. People said that they had never had care provided by someone they did not know.

People said that they liked the carers. They were caring and supportive. People felt staff were competent and had the skills to provide them with their support. They said that carers treated them with respect and promoted their dignity, privacy and independence.

People said that they were asked their views about the care they received both by telephone calls from the manager and by completing a survey. who use services.

Information was provided to people about how to raise a concern and people said if they raised any issues these were dealt with promptly.
