During a routine inspection

The majority of people living at the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary (MTI) reported that they were happy living at the home. Comments ranged from:' I have been cared for by caring professional staff'. 'I am well looked after and I can also carry on doing the things I love to do such as gardening, and I have a huge garden here'.

During an inspection in response to concerns

The Chelsea pensioners that we spent time talking to told us that they were comfortable and liked living at the Margaret Thatcher Infirmary.

We were told that the food overall was good and a variety of meals was provided. However there is an issue that at times hot food is served cold.

We were told by residents that the staff are providing a good service and the pensioners are cared for appropriately with dignity and respect.

Some residents were aware of the infirmary's complaints procedures but some told us that the complaints procedure was not taken seriously and the pensioners were not confident with the current procedure.
