Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered provider must not admit any patient to Sunrise Ward at Cygnet Hospital Ealing, 22 Corfton Road, Ealing, London W5 2HT without the prior written agreement of the Care Quality Commission.

The registered provider must appoint a suitably qualified and competent lead nurse on Sunrise Ward at Cygnet Hospital Ealing by the evening of 14 June 2019, to order to provide effective leadership and management of the provision of safe and effective care and treatment of patients. In addition, the registered provider must ensure that a suitably qualified and competent nurse is on duty to provide leadership on each shift to ensure safe and effective care and treatment to patients.

The registered provider must provide written confirmation of this to the Care Quality Commission by email to Karen.Bennett-Wilson@cqc.org.uk by 7pm on 14 June 2019, that arrangements described in 2 above are in place.

The registered provider must provide the Care Quality Commission with a report by 5pm on Friday 21 June 2019 setting out:

a detailed action plan, with timescales, of how the registered provider will appraise the new nursing leadership to ensure the requirements are met

The registered provider must provide the Care Quality Commission with a report by 5pm on Friday 21 June 2019 setting out:

a. that the registered provider has undertaken an assessment of the competency of all nursing staff employed by Cygnet Health Care Ltd on Sunrise Ward to meet the needs of service users. The names of each staff member whose competency has been assessed must be provided together with the results of the assessment. Staff on leave or off sick must progress through this process on their return.

b. how the competency of all nursing staff employed by Cygnet Health Care Ltd on Sunrise Ward has been assessed.

c. the action the provider will take, with timescales, where a nursing staff member has been assessed as not competent in the role they are to perform in connection with the relevant patient group

The registered provider must provide the Care Quality Commission with a report by 5pm on Friday 21 June 2019 setting out:

what action the provider will take, with timescales, to ensure that all agency and bank nursing staff members working any shift on Sunrise Ward are assessed for their competency to work with the relevant patient group

Assessment or medical treatment for persons detained under the 1983 Act
