During an inspection in response to concerns

During this inspection we focussed on the care and treatment of the most vulnerable people in the home. The majority of people we saw were unable to voice an opinion about their care and treatment. However we did speak to some people in the home who had the capacity to tell us about their experiences. They told us that the staff were generally kind and caring.

People told us that staff had so much to do; they often did not have time for them. We were told that people often waited for over half an hour for their bells to be answered and staff had told them only to use the bell in an emergency.

People told us that the home did not offer a choice at mealtimes. One person told us that the home was always running out of basic foodstuffs such as bread.

We spoke with two people who visited the home. They told us that the staff were kind and always welcomed them with a cup of tea. They told us that although they knew the d'cor was tired they were happy with the care the home provided.
