Good

Updated 6 December 2023

Church Farm Care Home provides residential care and support to people living with the frailties of old age. Some people had additional conditions which included dementia and learning disability. The service met people’s additional needs and followed the guidance from ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ which is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people. We carried out our on-site assessment on 14 December 2023, assessment activity started on 14 December 2023 and ended on 03 January 2024. We looked at 5 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control, and Equity in experiences and outcomes.

People's experience of the service

Updated 6 December 2023

People spoke highly of the support they received. People told us there were enough staff to support them, our observations and records confirmed this. Staff understood their duty to respond to, and report safeguarding concerns. People told us they felt safe and this was because the staff knew them well and they could talk freely if they had concerns. People told us of various events involving the wider community as well as a timetable of activities and interest groups they could attend in the building. Care was person-centred, people were involved in their care planning and risk assessment. Where some people lacked mental capacity to make certain decisions, they were supported in the least restrictive way, within their best interests and in line with legislation. People were able to retain their independence and have choice and control over their lives.
