During a routine inspection

On the day of our inspection we spoke with the clinic nurse, reception staff, compliance officer (via telephone) and a patient. Subsequent to our inspection, we spoke via telephone with two more patients.

People's privacy, dignity and independence were respected. Patients told us, 'Fantastic staff, they're very professional,' and 'All the staff are lovely, friendly and respectful.'

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare. Comments from patients were, 'They've been smashing'I am really happy with the service'I would definitely recommend them' and 'A good service, I'm pleased.'

People who used the service, staff and visitors were protected against the risks of unsafe or unsuitable premises.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs.

People were protected from the risks of unsafe or inappropriate care and treatment because accurate and appropriate records were maintained.

During a routine inspection

People told us that staff explained all the procedures and treatments to them and respected their decisions about their treatment and care. One person said, 'I signed the consent forms on the day of the operation for the anaesthetic, all the risks were fully explained by the nurse.'

People who used the service told us they were happy with the care and treatment they received on the unit. One person told us "It's very good, I'm pleased with everything. The nurses at the hospital and here (clinic) were excellent, they've been great.'

We found people received care and treatment in a clean environment with infection control measures in place to minimise the risk of infection. People we spoke with told us the unit was always clean and tidy. One person we spoke with said, 'absolutely, very good.'

The provider had a satisfactory recruitment and selection procedure in place to ensure that staff were appropriately employed.

The provider had a system in place to deal with comments and complaints. People who used the service could be confident that their comments and complaints were listened to.

During an inspection looking at part of the service

During our inspection visit in October 2011 we talked to people who use the service at this location. Comments were positive about aspects of their care.

For example, one person explained how they had felt fully informed throughout their patient journey, for example, receiving an information pack along with additional verbal information at each visit. Please see the October 2011 report for this location for full details of people's views.

During a routine inspection

We talked to one patient who had completed their patient journey during our inspection visit conducted 10th October 2011. The patient told us they had found their privacy and dignity respected at all times. For example, the patient explained how nothing personal had ever been discussed in the reception area and explained when accompanied they had been given choice regarding them coming into the consultation.

We reviewed a number of recently completed patient questionnaires and some comments recorded included:

'I was extremely impressed with the service I received';

'I would definitely recommend Transform to a friend and wouldn't hesitate to use the clinic again'.

'Everyone at Transform in Sheffield are lovely and I don't feel from my experience anything needs to be changed';

'All staff I have come into contact with have been really warm and friendly, open and honest and more importantly approachable!!';

'Excellent service and care from start to finish'.
