All Inspections

During a routine inspection

It was not possible to speak to people during our visit as there was no one available to talk to. However, we looked at 15 feedback forms that had been completed in February and March 2013. All respondents had rated the cleanliness of the clinic and their experience of the staff as "excellent".

Part of this inspection was to check whether Transform Medical Group (CS) Limited (London) had taken action to meet the standard in relation to infection control following concerns found during our visit of 30 January 2013. During this inspection we found that the necessary improvements had been made, which meant that people were protected from the risk of infection. There were daily cleaning checklists in place and staff were aware of their roles and responsibilities.

People were cared for in a clean environment by staff who had received sufficient training and whose performance was appraised regularly. There were systems in place to ensure that equipment was safe to use. The majority of equipment was single-use and disposed of safely. Electrical equipment was tested annually and appropriately maintained.

We spoke with people who use the service and looked at feedback forms that had been completed in the last six months of 2012. Overall, people were satisfied with the care and treatment they had received. One person told us that they felt "well looked after". People we spoke with knew how to make a complaint and we saw that written information had been given to people.

People were treated and cared for by staff who had been recruited appropriately and had undergone the necessary pre-employment checks. There were procedures in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered to ensure people's safety and welfare. People were assessed by a consultant to ensure that the treatment requested was appropriate. People were required to provide written consent for undergoing procedures. Consent was obtained by a consultant and any risks were documented and explained to people. If a person had requested a surgical procedure, they were required to undergo a pre-operative assessment to ensure they were fit for surgery. They had follow-up appointments at the clinic following their procedure.

People were not protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had not been followed. There were infection control policies and protocols in place, but these were not being adhered to. Infection control audits had been undertaken, but they had not identified areas where improvements were required.

People told us that the service was excellent, staff were nice and treated them with

respect. They said they were provided with enough information about their treatment choices. People reported they were made to feel comfortable and felt well cared for.

We also looked at completed patient satisfaction questionnaires that confirmed that people had found staff to be helpful and friendly and that they felt treated with respect.
