During a routine inspection

People who used the service said staff were 'really good and pleasant ' brilliant!' and had been 'kept well informed from the first telephone call to the clinic right up to the procedure'. We were told the individual surgeon seen had been 'really good, outlined the choices available and fully explained them'.

People who used the service said they did not have any complaints, concerns or issues about the care and treatment given. Those spoken to said they had been ' treated well, provided with the required information and staff had made sure they could be contacted outside normal clinic hours'. One person said they were 'very happy with the service and everything had been done to accommodate their wishes'.

We saw the clinic was well furnished, clean and situated in appropriate surroundings and a comfortable environment.

We checked client records and saw before people received care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. We confirmed staff received training and support to deliver care and treatment safely to patients.

There were systems in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people used the service and others.

We saw there were information leaflets at the reception area and throughout the premises that encouraged people who used the service to make complaints, suggestions or concerns known.

During a routine inspection

Patients we spoke with said they were happy with quality of their care and treatment. One person commented, "I can't think of anything that could be improved." Patients told us they were given all the necessary information about their treatment options and were given plenty of time to make an informed decision about treatment.

Patients' needs were carefully assessed before any decision was made about treatment, and their wishes and expectations were fully considered. They were advised of any risks associated with surgery. One patient told us, 'I was told of the risks and was warned against one particular treatment, as I wasn't suitable for it.' Good support was available to them before, during and after their treatment.

People who use the service were not protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had not taken all reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. The provider was aware of this and was taking urgent steps to improve procedures and staff training in this important area.

Staff were fully supported in their work. They were given regular training opportunities, and their work performance was appraised annually.

Complaints were taken seriously and responded to appropriately, although records were not held in an easily accessible way.
