Updated 26 March 2025

Date of Assessment: 28 April to 28 May 2025. We carried out this assessment to check if the required improvements from the previous inspection had been completed. The provider was previously in breach of the legal requirements in relation to keeping people safe, quality monitoring systems, staff skills and knowledge, providing person centred care, manging medicines safely and learning lessons from accidents and incidents. Improvements were found at this inspection, and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends.

People knew how to give feedback and were confident the provider took it seriously and acted on it.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally. There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff given time and resources to try new ideas.

This service has been in Special Measures since 13 September 2023. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.

People's experience of the service

Updated 26 March 2025

People and their relatives were positive about the quality of care they received and the improvements that had been made. People told us they felt safe and they knew who to go to if they had any concerns or ideas for improvements or activities they would like to do.

One person said, “I know it’s not my home but its right place for me, while I still feel longsome for my old place I feel much better supported here and, in that view, I feel safe.” People told us staff treated them with dignity and respect and offered them choices. One Person told us, “I feel well respected and that staff understand my needs well: I do get muddled and lost for words, but staff wait and give me a time to remember -I sometimes feel a bit embarrassed but when staff are patient it’s easier. They also ask my permission when working with me or entering my room.” People told us there was a variety of activities they could access if they wanted. One Person told us, “We have a proper activity coordinator and he is a very good at his job, he is also a very good person, he would do all sorts of things for us, sit and have a quiet chat if one of us is not doing well”. Some people could not directly tell us about their experience. We used a structured observation tool to assess whether they received good care. This approach showed people were included and listened to and staff consistently interacted positively with them. People knew staff and leaders well. One Person told us, “I think this place greatly improved from 2 years ago, as first we have now more stable manager and she is really good at what she is doing. If I can’t go to meetings, she makes an effort to ask me directly next day, its usual questions what activities we would like. I understand it’s important to capture our opinions."
