Citywide Care Agency - Bristol is a home care service providing support to older people in their homes. At the time of our assessment, there was 1 person receiving care from the service and another person was transitioning. The service registered with the Care Quality Commission on 14 April 2022. We carried out this assessment to provide the service with their first overall rating. The assessment was carried out by 1 inspector and we reviewed records remotely. During the assessment, we spoke with the registered manager, and we sought feedback from 2 staff. We spoke with 1 relative who was able to share their experience about the service. At this assessment we looked at all 33 quality statements and provided the service with an overall rating of good.
People felt they received safe care and that risks to people were being safely managed. The staff understood how to raise concerns if they suspected abuse. The provider had systems to manage any concerns that were raised. Staff and people benefited from an open and positive culture that had been developed by the registered manager. Staff gave us feedback that they felt valued and undertook regular training. The provider employed a small team of staff and staffing levels were managed well. Recruitment checks of staff were carried out by the provider before they started working for the service. Risks to people were safely managed, with risk assessments in place to help minimise any risks.
People were actively involved in their care, and they consented to the care and support provided. People were treated as individuals and were encouraged to be independent. Staff were kind and compassionate and knowledgeable of people’s needs. The provider was keen to place people’s care at the heart of the service, to help deliver person centred care.
The service had effective governance systems with a regular schedule of audits taken place. This included checks of medicines records, people’s daily records, care plans and health and safety. The registered manager carried out spot checks took place to monitor staff’s performance.
