During an inspection looking at part of the service

When we inspected the home on 03 December 2012 we found the home did not always involve people in their care planning and information was not always provided in an accessible form. People's needs assessments and care plans were not always updated to take account of any changes. Records of people's care and of safety checks were not always accurate and fit for purpose, and confidential information was not always stored correctly.

We went back to follow up these issues on 28 January 2013 and people we spoke with at the home told us they felt involved in their care and listened to, and their personal records reflected this. Records we saw were accurate and fit for purpose, and confidential information was stored appropriately. Risk assessments and care plans were up to date

During a routine inspection

We inspected the service in March 2012 and found that the provider did not always involve people or their relatives in decisions about care or plan and deliver care to meet individual needs. There were shortfalls in training and supervision of staff and records were not always accurate. The provider was not monitoring the quality of the service provided. The provider wrote to us and told us that they would take action to address these issues.

We inspected the service on 03 December 2012 and found that the provider had not made the necessary improvements to involve people in their care, plan and deliver care in a way that met individual needs, and did not keep accurate records. Staff had been supported in their work through supervision, appraisal and training and there was a system in place to monitor the quality of the service. People living at the home told us they were generally happy but one person said they would like to be more involved in their care planning
