Date of assessment: 11 August to 8 September 2025. Bentinck Crescent is a small residential care home which can support a maximum of 7 people. The home provides care and support to people with physical disabilities, people with a learning disability and autistic people.
The assessment was triggered to follow up breaches of regulations at the previous inspection. At our last inspection, we found the service to be in breach of the legal regulations in relation to person centred care, need for consent, safe care and treatment and good governance. At this inspection improvements had been made, and the service was no longer in breach of those regulations.
We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
We gathered information from people who used the service, relatives, the registered manager, care staff, and health and social care partners.
Care plans, risk assessments and care records were person-centred. They were detailed, robust and evidenced staff knew the people they were supporting.
People received medicines accordingly. Medicines care plans were completed, detailed and person-centred.
Consent documentation and risk assessments were in place. Staff knew what process to follow in obtaining consent and managing risk within the home.
The registered manager had made positive changes in processes that meant Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) and Mental Health Act (MHA) decisions, meetings, documentation and reviews were in place, in date and annotated accordingly.
Staff said managers were approachable, supportive and listened to them. Management worked closely with staff and people to ensure care was delivered to a standard that met clear expectations.
The registered manager had made changes and implemented alterations to policies and procedures which ensured they had good oversight over the service. Audits were in place and utilised to ensure good quality care and treatment was delivered.
