During an inspection in response to concerns

Some people who use the service were not able to speak to us due to issues of frailty or mental capacity. Carers spoken with said they had been involved in deciding if the home would meet their relative's needs and had been given the opportunity to make staff aware of individual preferences and choices. They said their relatives were generally able to live the lifestyle they chose at Coppice Lea. All carers spoken with said they felt that staff treated people using the service with respect and their dignity and privacy was protected. Some people spoke of attending residents and relatives meetings and said that the events provided an opportunity to have their say about how the service was being run. Some carers raised concerns that communication between individual staff and between different shifts needed to be improved. They said information given was sometimes not passed on, and this was frustrating. One carer said that staff were always busy, but remained responsive and helpful. Staff were good at prioritising their time and were always welcoming and friendly when people visited the home.
