Our view of the service
Date of assessment:19 and 20 March 2025. Greenhill is a care home that can accommodate for up to 64 people. They provide personal and nursing care for older people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 61 people living at the service.
The assessment was carried out because of the length of time since our last rating. The last rating for this service was good (published 20 September 2018). Following this assessment, the service has received an overall rating of ‘Good’ for the quality statements we assessed.
There were safeguarding policies and procedures in place and staff understood people’s needs and risks and how to support them safely. Appropriate recruitment checks took place before staff started work and there was enough staff to meet people’s care and support needs. Staff had received training and support relevant to people’s needs.
The design of the premises met people’s needs. Staff were knowledgeable about people's individual routines and likes and dislikes. They were aware of the importance of providing person centred care. People’s independence, rights and choice were supported ensuring control over their care, treatment and wellbeing. People’s care plans were person centred and reflected their individual preferences.
There were capable and inclusive leaders and staff told us they received good support from the registered manager and management team.
People's experience of this service
People told us they felt safe and there were enough staff to meet their needs. People told us staff treated them with kindness and compassion, and they respected their privacy and dignity. People and their relatives spoke positively about staff and the care and support they received. People and their relatives told us they felt the service was well run and the manager was visible and approachable.
