All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We met one person who received support by staff from the domiciliary/outreach care service. Due to people's communication skills the majority of people were unable to communicate their experiences of care to us. We were able to speak with six staff and five representatives of people about the support provided to people using the services.

One representative told us, "when our relative was taken on by the service staff from the service visited them at college to observe them, asked questions and came to see us separately as parents. They were interested in understanding what our wishes were for our relative's care. We could tell by the type of questions they asked that these staff really did understand autism and were trained'.

There was evidence that three people were supported to maintain their preferences in leisure activities and had access to community facilities on a regular basis when at home. It was acknowledged that staff were flexible with their time. This enabled each person to access the community as much as possible.

One person told us,' I feel safe with staff'.

One relative told us, 'staff are very supportive of my relative's needs and are always available at the end of the telephone'.

We asked representatives about the quality of the service provided. They told us,' staff listen and act on what you ask them to do', 'staff are well trained and genuinely understand the needs of my relative', 'staff are experienced and understand autism'.
