Updated 24 June 2025
Date of assessment: 30 June to 7 July 2025. The service is a care home providing personal care for older people, some who may be living with dementia. The service is registered to accommodate up to 67 people across 2 connected areas, The Lodge and The Glen. The Glen comprises of purpose-built apartments that include a kitchen, living area, bedroom and bathroom. At the time of this inspection 54 people lived there.
This assessment was carried out to follow up on the breaches of regulation found at our last inspection. We found sufficient improvement had been made and the service was no longer in breach of regulations.
On this inspection we found incident and accidents were reported and these were reviewed by leaders and actions taken to help to further reduce risks. Other health and social care professionals were involved in people’s care when needed. Appropriate referrals to other services were made, including when safeguarding referrals were needed. Staff understood how to monitor people for any risks and would seek advice and guidance from other services when needed. Checks were in place to ensure the safety of the home environment. However, we found some improvements were needed to the digital systems used to support people’s care.
Leaders planned staff numbers based on people’s needs and kept this under review to ensure sufficient numbers of staff were available to ensure people’s needs were met. Leaders made regular checks to ensure infection prevention and control measures were effective. Medicines administration and storage was in line with good practice principles.
Leaders were viewed as capable and caring. Staff felt listened to and valued. Staff were supported to raise any concerns or worries and knew they would be treated fairly. Leaders worked to ensure the quality and safety of the service was monitored and they identified actions where risks could be reduced, or further improvements could be made. However, we found records did not always meet the expected standards and leaders had plans in place to address this. Staff worked well with other professionals involved in the care and support of people.
