All Inspections

18 December 2013

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We had previously inspected this service on 11 October 2013 when we found that the process in place for seeking consent to treatment from patients was not being adhered to, which meant it was unclear whether patients had agreed to treatment. During this visit we found that there had been improvements at BMI Diagnostic Centre since our last inspection.

11 October 2013

During a routine inspection

During our inspection we spoke with two patients who described the service at the Diagnostic Centre as individualised, efficient and relaxed. They said their treatment plan was well explained and they had a good understanding of what to expect. One person said, 'The doctor went through the procedure I was having in detail.' Another patient said, 'Staff know what they are doing and are very caring.'

Patient consent forms were not fully completed in accordance with the consent to treatment policy for the organisation.

Staff received on-going training to support their professional development. Mandatory or required training was up-to-date for staff.

Effective arrangements were in place for the management of complaints. Records that should remain confidential were stored securely.

11 December 2012

During a routine inspection

We spoke with patients who used the service and they were very happy with the care and treatment provided at BMI Diagnostic Centre. Some comments made were:

'I have been seeing Dr X since 1992. The care and treatment here is second to none'. They always explain everything to you in layman's terms.'

'I have no complaints; they always explain everything they're going to do.'

'Staff always update my medical history at each appointment to make sure it's correct.'

We found patients were treated respectfully and were given clear information any treatment they received.

We found the modern building and grounds were well maintained, with adequate parking facilities available for patients. There was wheelchair access to all the consulting rooms.

We looked at four patient health care records. We found they contained all the relevant documents and evidence of patient consent to treatment.
