Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 30 May 2025

Date of assessment: 2 June to 10 June 2025. Maple House is a residential care home supporting 6 adults who are living with a learning disability and autism. This assessment was completed due to the aged rating of the service.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The staff and management team understood their role to advocate and support people to access health professionals. Potential risks to people’s health and wellbeing had been assessed and were reviewed when people’s needs changed. Incidents were recorded and analysed to identify patterns and trends, action had been taken to mitigate the risks of them happening again. Potential safeguarding concerns had been reported to the local authority as required.

Staff received training appropriate to their role and told us they were supported by the management team.

There are effective systems in place to monitor the quality of the service and the provider visited the service regularly. Staff told us they were supported to speak up about any concerns they may have, and these would be acted on.

People were supported by staff who had received training and supervision to support them safely. People took part in activities they enjoyed, and people’s preferences and choices were respected. People’s rooms were personalised, reflecting their choices and interests.

People’s choices were respected by staff, and they advocated for people to prevent them being discriminated against. Relatives told us staff had worked hard to support their family member to gain access to the healthcare they needed.
