Updated 9 September 2026

Assessment date: 28 September 2026 to 6 October 2026.

We assessed Hearts at Home HomeCare Limited Leeds, a domiciliary care agency providing personal care and support to adults with a range of needs, including older people, people living with dementia, learning disabilities, autistic people, mental health conditions, physical disabilities and sensory impairments. This was the first assessment of the newly registered service. We found people received safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care.

People and relatives consistently told us they felt safe and well supported by staff. Effective systems were in place to identify and manage risks, safeguard people from abuse and monitor the quality of care being delivered. Staff were recruited safely and received appropriate training, supervision, competency assessments and support to meet people's needs. Care records demonstrated effective management of complex healthcare needs, including PEG feeding, respiratory support and pressure care, with staff working alongside healthcare professionals to promote positive outcomes and continuity of care. Medicines were managed safely and governance systems provided oversight of incidents, safeguarding concerns and service quality.

We assessed the service against Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The service demonstrated a strong commitment to promoting independence, choice and control, with people encouraged to remain involved in decisions about their daily lives and future support. Care was delivered in line with the principles of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, promoting people's independence, inclusion, community participation and human rights. People were supported to maintain relationships, access activities that were important to them and achieve outcomes that reflected their individual aspirations.

Overall, the service demonstrated a positive culture where people's wellbeing, independence and outcomes were at the centre of care delivery.

People's experience of the service

Updated 9 September 2026

People had a positive experience of the care and support they received. People and relatives told us they felt safe and were very happy with the service. Staff were described as kind, caring, respectful and well trained. A relative said, “The staff are all kind, very respectful and always chat while helping with her personal care.”

People felt staff knew them well and understood their individual needs, routines and preferences. They were involved in developing and reviewing their care plans, which were updated when their needs changed. People’s dignity was maintained, and staff encouraged them to do as much as possible for themselves. One relative said, “The carers encourage them to shower, and they supervise them without being in their face but ensuring they are safe.”

People usually received support from carers they knew. Staff generally arrived when expected, stayed for the full call and did not rush people. People were informed if staff were delayed. Some people felt greater consistency of carers would further improve continuity, although they understood this was not always possible because of leave, illness or staff changes.

People and relatives were positive about support with medicines, equipment and complex health needs. They said staff worked well with relatives, personal assistants, district nurses and other professionals. People felt able to raise concerns and were confident these would be addressed. One relative said, “I spoke about [an issue] and it was sorted immediately. I was really impressed with how quickly it was all sorted.”

Communication with managers and office staff was described as good. Everyone spoken with said they were happy with the service and would recommend it. Overall, feedback reflected respectful, reliable and person-centred support that promoted people’s safety, dignity, choice and independence.
