During a routine inspection
People's needs were assessed prior to moving into the home and care plans were in place. However, we found risks that people could receive inconsistent or inappropriate care. This was because care plans did not always reflect people's current needs. Care records did not always show the actions that were taken when people's needs had changed or when risks about their care had been identified.
Staff were given training and were supported to do their jobs. One person said, 'I've never been asked to do anything I don't feel able to do and I can always get help and advice if I need it'.
There was sufficient and suitable equipment available to meet people's needs safely.
The deputy manager was actively involved in all aspects of care delivery. One of the owners also visited the home on a daily basis. This helped them to monitor the quality of the service. People who lived at the home were asked for their views about their care they were acted on.
We found that the service would benefit from improving the systems for identifying, assessing and managing risks relating to the health, welfare and safety of service users.
