During an inspection in response to concerns

People we spoke to who use the service said they knew there was a care plan for them, and that we could examine it if we needed to as part of the inspection. They said that they do speak with the staff when they need things to be done differently but could not recall being asked each month about their plan being reviewed. However they said that they can sometimes forget such things. In any case they said they would like to be asked each month when their care plan is being reviewed.

Overall, the feedback we received from people who live at the home was very complimentary about the way staff respected their rights and encouraged them to get involved in the running of their home. They said that staff knew what care was needed and that they do things the way people who use the service want them to.

People told us staff always enabled them to express their views and respected their privacy and dignity. Their views can be summarised as follows ' 'staff always treat you with respect and never enter your bedroom without knocking first', 'They treat me well and listen to me', 'Yes staff know how to support me and I feel safe with them', 'The home is very good and the food is good', 'Staff do listen to me, we have good times and go out when I want to, I'm happy here'. These comments were reflective of the overall comments we received from the people who live at the home to whom we spoke.

One relative said she was involved in the process of assessing the person's care needs and felt the staff at the home got to know her relative well.

People that we spoke to said they knew who they would talk to if they had a complaint and felt able to raise any concerns that they might have with the staff and manager. None had had occasion to make a formal complaint. They said that they felt safe and comfortable with staff supporting them, and felt that there was a family feel to the home. They said that they had regularly been asked about things like what food they would like and how they like to be supported.

People who live at the home expressed full confidence in the homes current management. They said they could speak with the manager at any time regarding any concerns.
