During an assessment under our new approach
Abbey Care Village is a service providing accommodation and personal care for up to 78 people, some of whom are living with dementia. On the first day of our assessment there were 56 people living at the service and on the second day 58 people were living there.
The assessment was carried out in line with CQC’s assessment priorities. This was the first assessment of the service under the new provider. The assessment commenced on 5 May 2026 and was completed on 12 May 2026. Site visits took place on both dates.
The service was led by a knowledgeable and skilled registered manager, who maintained effective monitoring and oversight of the service. Staff knew people well, supporting them safely. The environment was clean, tidy and safe. There was a welcoming and homely atmosphere.
There were enough, appropriately trained staff to meet people’s needs without delay. People received their medicines as prescribed and were safeguarded from the risk of abuse.
There was a culture of learning embedded at the service. The provider and registered manager welcomed feedback from people, relatives and partner organisations, using this to inform service improvement.
