Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 28 August to 04 September 2025. Belvedere House is a nursing home providing regulated activity to adults, people living with dementia and people who have physical disabilities. The service is registered to provide care for up to 64 people. At the time of our inspection, 49 people were using the service. The service was not providing nursing care, during our inspection the provider notified CQC of their intention to deregister this aspect of the service. This is the first assessment of this service. We found the provider had a proactive and positive culture of safety, and ensured care was provided in a safe and consistent way. Staff demonstrated a good understanding of people’s needs and people received timely care and support. Medicines were managed safely, and the provider effectively assessed and managed the risk of infection. The provider planned people’s care with them, in line with evidence based good practice and standards. People had mental capacity assessments and best interest decisions in place when relevant. However, the documentation we reviewed did not consistently demonstrate information was communicated to support people’s understanding and participation. We discussed this with the registered manager who told us of the steps they would take to improve this. Throughout our inspection, we observed staff treating people with kindness and compassion. The service had established links within the local community and regular events took place to support people’s health and wellbeing. Staff and leaders actively listened to people and supported them to plan for their future. All the staff we spoke with described a strong culture of teamwork within the service. The provider and management team demonstrated they had the skills and knowledge to lead the service effectively. The provider and registered manager demonstrated a good oversight of the service through the systems they had in place which ensured regular audits took place to drive service improvement.
