Inspection carried out on 2 November 2012

During a routine inspection

We talked to five people living at the home during our visit. People told us that they liked living at the home and being able to go out when they wanted. They were able to tell us that they were very happy with the home and the support and care that they received from the staff. They said the staff were �fabulous� and thought they were kind, patient and caring. One person informed us that they would like to go out in the minibus more often which we had been informed by the Manager was currently being investigated. People said that they did not have any concerns or complaints but would raise these with the staff or the manager if they did.

We found that people were able to make choices about the support they needed and their privacy and dignity was respected and promoted where appropriate. People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights with appropriate support from other health professionals when required and requested. People were protected against the risks associated with medicines and staff were trained and knowledgeable in the importance of following the homes procedures in relation to medication. There were robust systems in place to check and monitor the appropriate administration of medicines to people living in the home. The provider had an effective system in place to identify, assess and manage risks to the health, safety and welfare of people using the service and others.

During a routine inspection

We talked to five people living at the home about some of the outcomes we looked at during our visit. People told us that they liked living at the home, being able to go out when they wanted and having a place to smoke. One person we spoke to liked to go out everyday for a walk and being able to lock his room.

People we spoke with told us they were well looked after and they enjoyed living at White Lodge. They said the staff were fabulous and thought they were kind, patient and caring.

People said that they did not have any concerns or complaints but would raise these with the staff or the manager if they did.
