During an inspection looking at part of the service

Our inspection of 13 May 2013 found that people's care records had not been arranged in one overall care plan. At this inspection we saw that a new care plan format had been put in place, which provided clear guidance for staff to follow. We found that a new activities schedule had been implemented. Arrangements were in progress to ensure that people who used the service would be provided with accessible information about the home's activities that they could participate in. A person who used the service told us that they had recently been on trips out, which they enjoyed.

We found that the window restrictors had now been repaired in two people's bedrooms. We looked at the home's health and safety audit. We saw information which evidenced that external checks had been undertaken to ensure that these areas for people to use. We found that the provider had now completed a plan, which stated when any environmental improvements were due to take place.

The home had obtained a lockable cabinet that ensured that people's care records would now be kept secure

We found that the staff duty rotas did not contain all the right information to confirm the staff on duty. There also was no system in place to assess that there were sufficient numbers of staff on duty at all times.
