All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We talked to 25 people living in the home and spent time on each unit observing the care and lifestyle that people experience. We also spoke with three relatives of people living at the home who visit regularly. Overall the feedback was that people are provided with a good standard of care, and are well settled in the home. They are given choices and the majority have formed good and supportive relationships with staff.

We observed people moving freely throughout the home, and staff greeting residents from other units respectfully. One person noted 'I've been here for a few years. It's a good home, no one bothers you, they let me get on with my life.'

Residents and visitors spoke highly about the quality of staff at the home, describing them as 'hard working' and caring. Staff ask them what their needs and wishes are, and attempt to meet these as far as possible. Although staff are frequently busy, residents felt that they would make time to engage with them as much as possible. Most people feel that there are sufficient activities available to them, and have the opportunity to go outside the home when they wish.

Most people appeared to enjoy the food at the home; one person noted 'you can choose ' so you don't get bored.' However some residents felt that there were not enough hot choices of food at supper time.

People told us that staff did their best to protect their privacy and always treated them with respect. Most felt that staff listened to them and offered them choices about their care as far as possible, including how frequently they wished to have a bath/shower, or activities they might wish to engage in. They confirmed that they received their medication at the prescribed times.

Most residents had an idea of who they could speak to if they had a complaint or felt at risk of harm. There were no complaints about the home environment or the cleanliness in the home. Several residents remembered being asked for their views on the quality of care in the home, and felt that their views were listened to.
