Treatment of disease, disorder or injury

Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered provider must not admit any patient to Keston Ward at The Priory Hospital Hayes Grove, Prestons Road, Hayes, Bromley, Kent BR2 7AS without the prior written agreement of the Care Quality Commission.

The registered provider must identify a senior leader with oversight of the Keston Unit and outline how this senior leader will provide support and leadership to the ward until a new permanent ward manager is appointed. This person must be able to demonstrate their understanding of Autism. The registered provider must notify CQC of this arrangement by 22 September 2020.

The registered provider must undertake a review of the sexual safety of patients on the Keston Unit, taking into account the risk profiles of patients and providing support to patients who have not felt sexually safe on the ward. This review must be completed by 22 September 2020 and provided to the CQC on that date.

The registered provider must ensure that, if it continues to use CCTV cameras in patients’ bedrooms, it seeks consent from patients to activate the cameras and, where necessary, considers the capacity of patients to provide this consent. The provider must obtain the relevant assurance from the Information Commissioner’s Office and the learning from this incident must be shared across the provider organisation to prevent potential future breaches of patient privacy and dignity. The registered provider must provide a report to CQC by 22 September 2020 to demonstrate how it will ensure it will meet this condition.

The registered provider must provide the CQC with monthly updates on their actions and progress with improving therapeutic activities in relation to each individual patient on the Keston Unit. The update provided to CQC should be in the form of current patient care and treatment notes.
