Warrengate Nursing Home is a care home providing personal and nursing care for people. The service provides support to people who have care needs, such as, diabetes and Parkinson’s disease. The majority of people were living with dementia or had deteriorating mobility. We completed this assessment between 06 and 19 December 2023 that included an onsite visit on 12 December 2023. Staff understood what constituted abuse and what to do if they suspected abuse was taking place. There were systems and processes in place to protect people from harm. There was sufficient numbers of care staff deployed at the service to meet people's needs. Assessments were undertaken to identify risks to people to keep them safe and staff understood what the risks to people were. Incidents and accidents were recorded, analysed and used to reduce the risk of them re-occurring. Recruitment practices were robust that ensured that only suitable staff were employed at the service. The service had a business contingency plan that identified how the service would function in the event of an emergency such as fire, adverse weather conditions, flooding or power cuts. The provider had systems in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the care provided. Staff told us they would report any concerns to their manager. Staff felt that management were very supportive. Staff told us they felt valued and supported.
