During a routine inspection

On this occasion we were not able to speak directly to people who use the service. Some of their carers, who were telephoned after the inspection finished, confirmed that people using the service were actively involved in making decisions about the care and support they received and were very well supported by the agency. They said that people using the service were treated with dignity and respect and staff protected their privacy. Carers said they had developed a good and trusting relationship with the agency manager and support staff, which clearly benefited people using the service. For instance, one carer said they were telephoned every week by the agency staff to update them about their relatives care and welfare, which have proved to be a great comfort and helped to keep them in touch. Relatives said that if a complaint or concern needed to be raised with the manager or support staff, these were taken seriously and acted upon straight away. Carers were reassured by the fact that support staff knew their relatives well, many had worked at the agency for some time. They said that staff appeared to be well trained and knowledgeable. A carer said, 'the agency really does deserve a big tick.' Another carer said, 'I decided it was to be Cavendish Care or nowhere!'
